About eNorth East Award 2012

The 2012 edition seeks to scout, identify and recognise best practices in ICT for development in as many as 12 categories. Nominations are open from June 11 to August 21, 2012 for the 2012 nomination process. Details of nomination are available at http://enortheast.in

Categories for Nominations

 I. Award Categories:

1. Governance & Public Services Delivery 
ICT applications and practices that are having impact on better government performance, efficient citizen services delivery, improved functioning of departments within, improved flow of work, scaling up front and back end office works having direct and indirect impact on public services delivery are eligible for nomination in this category.  Nominations are eligible from public and industry sectors whose ICT applications including e-Governance practices have ensured scaling up of governance process with necessary transformations.

2. Education Services Delivery
ICT applications and practices that have brought in desired changes in learning, teaching; changes brought in education management are eligible to file their nominations for this category.  Nominations are invited from educational institutions, agencies, industry units, civil society agencies whose work have led to significant and visible impact in the educational domain.

3. Health Services Delivery
ICT applications and practices that have brought transformation in the way health services are being managed, delivered, and streamlined across departments, health centres, and hospitals are eligible for nomination in this category. Nominations are invited from government; private and civil society agencies whose work has led to visible changes in the way health services are managed and delivered.

4. Livelihood & Entrepreneurship  promotion
ICT applications and practices that have led to streamlining economic services, livelihood and enterprise management, promoted new avenues for income generation, led to employment generation are eligible to apply in this category. Nominations are invited from public, private, civil society agencies and enterprises whose ICT applications have brought in desired changes in the promoting livelihood, entrepreneurship and income generation.

5. Financial Inclusion
ICT applications and practices that have brought in desired changes in the way citizens are having easy and transparent financial services including credit services delivery are eligible to file nominations in this category.  Nominations are invited from financial departments, financial institutions, banks, credit agencies, SHGs, civil society agencies whose efforts have led to better, smooth, transparent and accessible financial services especially in remote and rural locations.

6. Commerce & Business  
ICT applications and practices that have led to a new means and channels for commerce and business promotion, helping strengthen the demand and supply chain of products and services in the region using ICT tools including internet and mobile applications are eligible to apply in this category. Nominations are invited from practitioners whose work has defined new means and opportunity of commerce and business promotion in the region.

7. Culture & Heritage
ICT applications and practices that have led to a new means of preserving rich and pristine culture and heritage of the region using ICT means in the region are eligible to apply in this category. Nominations are invited from practitioners whose work has defined new means and platforms to preserve age old cultural and heritage artifacts, practices, icons, crafts and so on.

8. Environment & Tourism
ICT applications and practices that have led to promotion and preservation of the rich and invaluable natural ecosystem of region using ICT means are eligible in this category. Applications and practices that have led to news ways of projecting and populating the rich tourism destinations of the region are eligible to apply in this category. Nominations are invited from practitioners whose work has defined new means of environmental protection and promotion of nature rich tourism in the region.

9. News & Media 
ICT applications and practices that have led to a new means for news and media reporting using ICT tools including internet and mobile applications in the region are eligible to apply in this category. Nominations are invited from practitioners whose work has defined new means of news and media in the region.

10. Entertainment
ICT applications and practices that have led to a new means for promotion and experience in entertainment using ICT tools including internet and mobile applications in the region are eligible to apply in this category. Nominations are invited from practitioners whose work has defined new means of entertainment in the region.

11. Innovative Department / Public sector enterprise or agency
This category is open for nomination for public departments / public agencies and units whose work has brought in extraordinary changes with the application and deployment of information communication technology applications in functioning and operations as well as in management within the department and in coordination with other departments for more than one year. Nominations are invited from government departments, public units, public sector enterprises from states within the region to apply for this category.

12. Innovative IT / ICT Enterprise
Nominations are invited from IT firms, companies, units, enterprises from the region or working in the region with extraordinary outcomes and involvement with stakeholders and providing innovative solutions to address development challenges in the region to apply for this category. Firms or agencies need to have at least minimum of 2 years of successful operations and presence.

Note: *Technology initiatives include any project or practice using Information Communication Technology applications including Internet, mobile, broadband and e-governance applications.  

II. Nomination Guidelines

Nomination Process Open
The nomination process for eNorth East Awards 2012 opens on June 11, 2012. Nomination details can be viewed at http://enortheasti.in . Nomination form can be downloaded and filled in forms can be sent at enortheast@gmail.com

  • Nomination process open on June 11, 2012
  • Nomination closes on August 21, 2012

 eNorth East Awards: Criteria for Nominations
The following are the criteria for nominations:

  • Criteria 1: Applications & practice is to have relevance and presence in North East India
  • Criteria 2: Nominees have successful and sustainable  applications and services developed and deployed in locations with demonstrated impact in quantity and quality
  • Criteria 3: Applications and services projects must be on ground for more than 1 year
  • Criteria 4: Nominated projects have to be based on ICT applications
  • Criteria 5: Mere innovative ideas and designs are not applicable for eNorth East Awards

Nominations Submission

  • Nominations should be submitted within set timeline and criteria
  • Every nomination form to be submitted online in soft copy format or in hard copy format by post
  • Every nomination to be accompanied by any media coverage, case study published, relevant images, success story of the application or project
  • Every nomination submission can be in as much detail as possible to give enough material to the Jury members to decide in favour of the submitted nomination.

III.  The eNorth East Award Jury
The ‘eNorth East’ Award Jury will held in the month of August 2012 to pick up the winning projects. The Jury shall consist of ICT and technology, governance and development experts from Government, industry, civil society and academia who will meet for one full day in August to decide the winners.
